How to Teach Baby to Hold a Bottle

How to Teach Baby to Hold a BottleIt wasn’t difficult for us to learn how to teach baby to hold a bottle.

Teaching baby to hold a bottle on her own required a little patience on our part, but lots of interest and determination from our daughter.

But after our experience with teaching baby to hold a bottle I am confident we will be able to teach any of our future babies to hold their own bottles as well.

Teaching Baby to Hold Bottle On Her Own

Teaching Baby to Hold Bottle on Her OwnRecently we’ve been teaching baby to hold a bottle on her own.

Baby was able to grasp toys from 10-weeks so we know that she is at least physically able to hold her bottle.

The hard part is getting her to hold the bottle securely and at an appropriate angle that allows her to drink.

Baby is the Center of Attention

Baby is the Center of AttentionAs usual, Arya got plenty of attention this past weekend during our outdoor bbq turned indoor picnic.

Baby is the center of attention no matter where she goes, but she was quite literally surrounded by cooing women for the entire afternoon.

My daughter loves being the center of attention and she stayed up for more than eight hours delighting in all the love from friendly faces.

Baby Tripod at Four-months Old

Baby Tripod at Four-months OldArya has discovered a new trick.

Over the past week she has learned how to sit in the baby tripod position. After we help her into the sitting position, she leans forward and places her hands between her legs.

This position–called the baby tripod–is nearly universal as a developmental milestone for babies on their way to unassisted sitting. Baby tripod at four-months old was a fun trick for her this week.

Baby Getting Better at Tummy Time

Baby Getting Better at Tummy TimeMy baby is getting better at tummy time.

At five-weeks old she preferred wriggling like a worm and wasn’t enticed by toys like other babies. Now, we have gone from being fearful she would never like tummy time to bored since she takes so long during tummy time. Ever since she could do baby push-ups she spent longer and longer on her tummy.

Now that she can touch her toes, Arya treats tummy time more as an excuse to play than as a baby developmental exercise.

Packing For Baby’s First Road Trip

Packing For Baby's First Road TripArya took her first road trip this weekend.

With grandpa visiting over the weekend for the last time this summer, we decided to take a trip to Vermont to take care of one more state on his bucket list.

Planning for baby’s first road trip was fun, but since it was also baby’s first car ride and the baby’s first night away from home, we had to pack extra items for every contingency.

When Do Babies Recognize Their Parents

When Do Babies Recognize Their ParentsOver the past week Arya reacted differently to strangers than to her parents.

From the time she was born our daughter loved to be carried by everyone. She didn’t care who was carrying her as long as they were holding her securely. That changed last week.

On two occasions during the week Arya became grumpy when another person carried her and only settled down after Mommy or Daddy took her back. That lead me to question: when do babies recognize their parents?

Bathing Baby in the Sink

Bathing Baby in the SinkI have started bathing baby in the sink.

Arya has a cute whale tub and a basic blue baby bath tub.

But since most of the baths I give her are as a result of my baby’s overflowing poop, I need the fastest, easiest way to get her clean. Setting up the whale tub for a bath takes too long since I use it to relax her while I’m in the kitchen and her blue tub requires me to get in the bath with her.

Bathing baby in the sink requires no special preparation or equipment.

How Much Sleep Does My Baby Need at Three Months?

How Much Sleep Does My Baby Need at Three MonthsHow much sleep does my baby need at three months?

Arya’s sleep pattern has still been as erratic as when she was a newborn even though she will be three months old soon. We have a hard time getting her to sleep at night and she doesn’t have a consistent schedule when taking naps during the day.

I am concerned more about the total amount of sleep that my three-month old baby needs, but I am also worried about her overall sleep routine.
