Even though we rededicated ourselves to sleep training Arya more than a month ago, she still has erratic sleep patterns nearly every day.
We’ve been trying to have Arya take three naps during the day. Since this means she struggles falling asleep four times each day, it raises the question: how much sleep does my baby need?

After we finally finishing packing for baby’s first road trip, we got to experience baby’s first car ride.
Since we don’t own a car, this weekend’s trip was Arya’s first time riding in an automobile. After some difficulty loading the van and installing the car seat, we were able to leave only one hour behind our original schedule.
Arya was lucky to have lots of room in the van for her books and toys. Thanks to Grandpa driving, she also got both Mommy and Daddy to play with her during the trip.

How much sleep does my baby need at three months?
Arya’s sleep pattern has still been as erratic as when she was a newborn even though she will be three months old soon. We have a hard time getting her to sleep at night and she doesn’t have a consistent schedule when taking naps during the day.
I am concerned more about the total amount of sleep that my three-month old baby needs, but I am also worried about her overall sleep routine.

My baby likes to lie on my arm. We cuddle on the sofa to read her favorite book or let her stare at the ceiling.
While I rest my head on a comfortable pillow, my daughter complains if her head is directly on the pillow. Arya doesn’t like it even if her head is next to mine and my arm is around her.
She prefers to place her head directly on my arm.

Arya passed another baby milestone this week.
Despite lots of complaining, she managed to do her first baby push-ups.
Our daughter hated tummy time for the past two months. Now that she has learned how to hold her head and neck off the ground she actually enjoys being on her tummy for up to a minute at a time.

While my 10-week old still loves sleeping her stroller when we go outside, she has now taken to sleeping on the couch whenever she naps at home.
It’s fine that my baby sleeps on the sofa when she wants to take a nap. Unfortunately she never wants to sleep in her crib.

My nine-week old daughter has developed a distressing habit. My baby can’t fall asleep.
My daughter, Arya, has started her own sleeping schedule in the past few weeks since Mommy has gone back to the clinic. We think that my wife’s schedule has forced our baby to develop a schedule of her own. Unfortunately part of my baby’s new schedule involves not being able to fall asleep.

Despite our best efforts to train her to only sleep on her back, my baby likes to sleep on her stomach. Because we are concerned about SIDS, we force our daughter to sleep on her back whenever an adult isn’t watching her constantly. However, whenever there is someone to look after her, our baby strongly prefers having her stomach facing down.

Now that my baby is one-month old her sleep schedule has become more regular. For her first month as a newborn she went to sleep and woke up at random times.
As a one-month old, my baby girl is beginning to develop a structured sleep pattern. But even as she becomes more scheduled about when she sleeps, I am still worried about how little she sleeps. As sleep is critical for babies, I wanted to know the answer to: how much should a one-month old baby sleep?
